Published in 2014, WAI-ARIA 1.0 User Agent Implementation Guide is a W3C recommendation that contains a “user agent developer’s guide to understanding and implementing the Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) specification. In particular, it describes how user agents should support keyboard navigation and respond to roles, states and properties provided in Web content using the WAI-ARIA specification. It also illustrates how user agents should expose this information to native platform accessibility APIS, therefore encouraging consistency among vendors on how it should be exposed to assistive technologies (screen readers, speech recognition systems, ETC.).
