Accessibility Principles
Posted by
Vincenzo Rubanoon · one minute reading. All requirements coming from accessibility standards and guidelines can be grouped around some basic principles, which can perhaps be much easier to grasp and consider (especially during the earlier phases of the development process). This document from the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) provides a high level overview of such accessibility principles, illustrating the requirements that can be associated to them; it also provides useful references to understand where they arise with regards to official accessibility standards and guidelines (such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1).
As the document provides a high level overview of accessibility principles, even if it targets specifically web accessibility it can be a valuable resource for the development of accessible desktop and mobile applications as well.
