Espeak NG

Espeak is a lightweight, open source speech synthesizer that is available for many operating systems including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and Android. It supports more than 100 languages and accents.

eSpeak NG uses a “formant synthesis” method: this allows many languages to be provided in a small size. As a result, the speech is clear and can be used at very high speeds, but is not as natural or smooth as larger synthesizers which are based on human speech recordings. It also supports Klatt formant synthesis, and the ability to use MBROLA as backend speech synthesizer.

eSpeak is available both as a shared library (to be used by other applications), and a command line application.
