Pico TTS

Initially developed by SVox (a Swiss company acquired in 2011 by Nuance), Pico TTS is a multilingual, open source speech synthesizer that can run many operating systems including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and Android. It supports the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Pico TTS can be used both as a shared library (to be used by other applications), and a command line tool to generate speech output and save it to Wave files.

While it does not provide the greatest speech quality, Pico was once the default TTS engine on Android devices; for some of them this is still true nowadays!
